Whether you're looking to balance out your anticipated weekend indulgences, or you're simply a virtuous eater who's out of ideas, we have eight of our favourite healthy dinners to help you keep your eye on the prize.

Oh yeah, we be lentil round here. A deep, warming bowl of dal in all its thick, lentil glory is a perfect option for packing in the protein while steering clear of meat. If it were us, and it often is, we'd make a double batch for tomorrow's lunches.

Take the spring out of your roll and step away from the oil. These little Argentinian fingers of goodness are made with lean mince and rice, and gently cooked in your own homemade tomato sauce. They're so wholesome that even a heavy-handed sprinkling of parmesan is permitted.

Green tea smacks down nasties with its large endowment of antioxidants, so it stands to reason it should be appearing in the diet of healthly munchers everywhere. But if you're not one for taking tea, you might consider dousing your bowl of  with it, instead. The toasted flavours in the green tea and rice are pure comfort.

Here's a situation where this simple recipe is going to be your saviour: you've committed to having friends over for dinner, but you've also promised yourself to eat well all week. We're here to tell you that healthy dinners and good friends can be a harmonious coupling. All you need is a grill, a good fishmonger and squeeze of lemon to make this impressive .

Salad is here to help you win friends and influence people and, most importantly, it's here to be your BFF. All this asks is that you give it an element of excitement to elevate its status from goody-two-shoes to back-of-the-bus-badass. To do this, you add something roasted (in this instance, the cauliflower), something crunchy (a pine nut), and something drizzled (a tahini and lemon dressing).

Let's be real, the biggest barrier to eating healthy dinners in the cooler months is the teary farewells to cheesy bakes. But you can dry those eyes and release your grip on the mozzarella, this is still cheesy and it's still baked. It's just topped with ricotta and yoghurt for a lighter, golden top, instead.

Just look at this ! It's so brimming with health you'll practically feel your skin plump up and your hair shine as you eat it. A quick ingredient audit shows we've got oysters in there for zinc and plenty of veggies for fibre and vitamin C. And let's not forget, it's so easy to put together you could practically will it into existence.

Tonight, you can reward yourself with , except you're making these yourself and you'll be baking them, not frying. This healthy hack replaces goopy batter with wholemeal breadcrumbs and, honestly, it tastes so good it feels like cheating.
