In this one-hour special, Peter Kuruvita revisits his culinary adventures across the Pacific in search of the perfect blend of flavours for an Australian Christmas feast. Embracing the spirit of summer, Peter guides us through stunning reefs in the Philippines, ancient fishing practices of the Cook Islands, the pristine lagoons of Aitutaki, and the fascinating culture of Indonesia.
Throughout his travels, Peter is joined by old friends and new, and together they explore each picturesque location’s culture, site-specific ingredients and recipes. In Aitutaki, Peter hunts for mud crabs with David the fisherman in the dead of night, and while floating in the Rarotonga lagoon, Kura shows him how to find an octopus hidden under rocks in the sand.
Once settled in back at home on the Sunshine Coast, Peter happily prepares a new kind of Christmas lunch with his family. Peter searches out the tastiest ingredients at his local farmers’ market and through the influence of his island adventures, combines them into a wonderfully mouthwatering feast, perfect for a summer’s day celebration.
