The Lunar New Year is nearly upon us as the promise of lanterns, fireworks and festive food dangles ahead. The celebratory event in the Chinese calendar calls for a clean of the house, shopping for new clothes, and preparing dishes that carry extra meaning around good health and prosperity; you can usually bet on bowls spilling with noodles, whole fish and all of the dumplings.

Enter dumpling specialists Din Dai Fung; they’re ringing in the Year of the Dog with some limited edition, cute-as-heck dog-shaped buns.

From 8 February until 8 March, the dark chocolate and banana-filled dessert bao will be steamed-to-order; think of them as banoffee bao, if you will.

The dog-shaped buns are the perfect endnote to your banquet of the delicate, soupy, Shanghai-style dumplings that Din Tai Fung are famous for.
And to sweeten the deal further, they'll be donating $1 from every dog-shaped bun sold to children's mental health charity who provide play therapy for kids aged 3-12 years.

The doggy bao will be available across all 10 Din Tai Fung restaurants and café courts.
