A man has died at the Villawood Detention Centre in Sydney.
Refugee advocate Ian Rintoul says the Iraqi asylum seeker was found in his room around 6pm last night after taking his own life in the La Trobe compound.
Australian Border Force has confirmed the latest death but has not released further details, only saying the matter has been referred to the New South Wales coroner and other appropriate agencies.
A spokesperson for Border Force also expressed condolences to the man's family and friends, adding the matter will be subject to further investigation.
