Medevac gives asylum seekers access to the Australian legal system

Attorney-General Christian Porter says hundreds of asylum seekers on Manus Island and Nauru will undergo fresh security and character assessments.


This comes after the federal parliament passed the so-called medivac bill last week.

The bill gives doctors more power to decide whether a person should be brought to Australia for medical treatment.
