Commonwealth Games: Shakil bags second medal for Bangladesh

Shooter Shakil Ahmed wins second medal for Bangladesh in Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. He scored 220.5 to bagged silver medal in 50m pistol event at Belmont Shooting Center in Brisbane, Australia this morning. Through this achievement, after 28 years Bangladesh won the medal in pistol event. Atiqur Rahman and Abdus Sattar Nini won the gold medal for the country in 10m Air Pistol event in 1990.

Australian Daniel Repacholi won the gold medal with a score of 227.2, that's a new commonwealth games record. Indian Om Mitharval bagged bronze medal with scored 201.1.

Shakil had placed fourth in the qualifying round to earn a spot in the final. Another participant from Bangladesh, Md Anowar Hossain placed 10th out of 21. 

Shakil Ahmed had also achieved gold medal in the same event of South Asian Games in 2016.

Last Sunday, Abdullah Hel Baki has won Bangladesh its first medal at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games by taking silver in the 10m Air Rifle final.
