Coalition prepares to continue in Government

The Coalition defied the polls to be re-elected for a third term, and the fallout from last night's election result is being felt right across the country. With huge losses for Labor from the east coast to the west, it quickly became clear that the Coalition would hold onto power.


The day started out hopeful - confident even - with polls and even betting agencies backing Labor to win. But as the night drew on it became more and more obvious that the pollsters were wrong.

Speaking on Channel Nine, former Foreign Minister Julie Bishop said the accuracy of the polls has been seen to be drifting in recent years.
