To unite the diverse multicultural Australian communities through a common sport, Origin Cricket was started in 2014 in Sydney. A gala dinner was recently held in Sydney and SBS Bangla spoke to its acting president Modasser Rabbani Dipta.


The Origin Cricket Cup is a T20 cricket tournament, which aspires to unite the diverse multicultural Australian communities through a true blue Australian sport, cricket.

Teams from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka origin competed in the tournament.

It was an outstanding showcase of community cricket featuring some of the aspiring players with ethnic backgrounds.

Various political leaders, community leaders and cricketers attended the event.
