Siddhartha's new film 'Somporko' shows Australian context

Bengali filmmaker and actor Siddhartha Banerjee recently completed his new film 'Somporko (Relationships)' in Bangla language. Originally from India, Siddhartha was involved in professional acting and modelling in India and Bangladesh. He received 'Uttam Kumar Award' twice as best actor. Recently he released his film 'Somporko' in online platform. Australian and Bangladeshi artist and crew worked in this film. Siddhartha speaks to SBS Bangla about his filmmaking experience in Australia.

Siddhartha says, this film's scenario is the relationships of people and their cultural bondage in Australian context. People from any background whether they are at home or overseas will be able to relate their situation with this film.

He says this film also portrays the dimensions of human relationships in multicultural settings.

He released the film in online platform due to lack of finance and patronisation. However, he sees a plus point for online release is it reaches huge audience.

As the film budget is essentially low, challenge for making such movies in Australia is lack of crew.
