- Cattle rustling in Warrap State
- Communal fighting between Thiik, Lou Paher and Luanyjany
- The government intervened and stopped the fighting
The fighting between Luanjang, Thiik and Lon Paher took 31 lives, and 29 people sustained injuries. The conflict started after one young man from Luanyjang stole some cows from the neighbouring Lon Paher community whose cattle camp was at the Thiik community’s area.
According to the Minister of Information, the ‘young man was told to return the cows, but he refused to do so’. In return, the Lou Paher youth combined with the Thiik Youth organised again and went and raided Luanjang cows. The whole situation escalated into a large scale fighting.
