South Sudanese activists and former prisoner call for target sanctions on South Sudanese National Security officials. In this first exclusive interview on SBS Dinka, Peter Biar narrated why he asked the USA to sanction these officials?

On March 10, Peter Biar Ajak testified before the USA Senate Committee on Foreign Relations about South Sudan and the horn of Africa. Biar was detained at the National Security’s facility, the Blue House, for 18 months, and President Kiir then pardoned him. During his testimony, Biar asked for help from the USA to impose sanctions on the leaders or individuals responsible for human rights abuses in South Sudan. Biar also asked the USA senate committee to assert more effort in ensuring South Sudan practice democracy.
