COVID-19 Update: Australia to soon surpass 80 per cent double vaccination target

Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt says Pfizer has started the application for approval of vaccines for the 5-11 year old age group with the Therapeutic Goods Administration.

Vaccination for that age group will begin as soon as an approval is received from ATAGI.

Mr Hunt also says Australia will cross the 80 per cent double dose vaccination rate in the coming few days.

Meanwhile, the Queensland town of Goondiwindi to get new testing facilities as new cases emerge there. However, the town will not go in lockdown.

As Australia celebrates Diwali today, NSW Multicultural Health Communication Service has some advice.
COVID-19 Statistics

  • Victoria recorded 1,247 new community cases and nine deaths.
  • NSW recorded 308 new cases and four deaths.
  • Queensland has recorded three new locally acquired cases.
  • ACT recorded 13 new locally acquired cases.
Vaccination Roll Out

Booster doses will be available to Northern Territory from Monday, 8 November. The booster dose is not mandatory for anyone at this point.

If you want to travel overseas, you may be able to apply online for an exemption.  for more information about the conditions to leave Australia. There are temporary measures for international flights that are regularly reviewed by the government and updated on the  website.
