COVID-19 Update: Cases on the rise in NSW as PM confirms borders reopening tomorrow

This is your update on the Coronavirus in Australia for 14 December 2021.

  • NSW records highest number of cases in 10 weeks. The state is set for from tomorrow, 15 December.
  • The Newcastle nightclub cluster has now grown to 150. At least one of the infections is detected to be that of Omicron Variant. NSW’s New Hunter region had reported 28 cases yesterday, which have today jumped to 225.
  • Prime minister Scott Morrison announces an mRNA vaccine production facility to be built in Victoria.
  • Mr. Morrison has confirmed that international borders will reopen on 15 December.

  • Britain records first publicly confirmed death due to Omicron variant.
COVID-19 STATS: 

Victoria recorded 1,189 locally acquired cases and six deaths.
NSW recorded 804 new community cases and one death.
