- Western Australia has launched a , with 5 test kits provided to every household in the state at no charge.
- Western Australian residents can apply to pick up the free RATs or have them delivered or by calling 13 COVID (13 26843). This number offers also access to interpreters that can assist for languages other than English.
- From today Monday 28 February face masks are no longer mandatory in New South Wales for high school students and staff.
- Also from today twice-weekly testing will not be required for students to access New South Wales schools. Eight free RATs have been given to each household to be used at parents' discretion.
- All elective surgery is resuming in Victoria from today.
- Tomorrow Tuesday 1 March will be the last day for Victorians to claim a $450 COVID-19 isolation payment while awaiting a PCR test result, with demand reducing as RAT tests become more common.
COVID-19 Australian Stats
New South Wales reported 1,136 patients hospitalised with 55 in intensive care. There were 6 deaths, and 5,856 new cases of COVID-19.
In Victoria, 283 people are in hospital with 42 in ICU and 7 on ventilators. There were 3 deaths and 5,852 new infections.
Tasmania has recorded no deaths with 734 new COVID-19 cases. 11 people are in hospital with COVID-19, none of them requiring intensive care.
In the ACT 44 people are now in hospital with COVID-19, none of them requiring intensive care. One death has been reported with 464 new cases.
In Queensland, there were 3,312 new COVID-19 cases and one death. 311 people are hospitalised with COVID-19, with 25 patients in ICU.
