- NSW has notched up another record daily number of COVID-19 cases with 3,763 people diagnosed, as testing clinics are inundated.
- There are 302 people in NSW hospitals with the virus - up from 284 - and 40 of them are in ICU.
- NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet will raise the issue of the booster shot interval when the National Cabinet meets on Wednesday.
- Also on the Cabinet meeting agenda will be mask mandates amid the rise in cases across the country.
- Prime Minister Scott Morrison said new modelling that shows Australia could reach 200,000 COVID-19 cases a day is "very unlikely".
- Australia's Chief medical officer Paul Kelly described media reporting on the modelling as "selective" and "misleading".
- Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk announced new mask requirements for cinemas, theatres and hospitality workers from 5:00am on Thursday.
- Moderna's chief executive says the company does not expect any problems in developing a booster shot to protect against the Omicron variant of COVID-19.
