COVID-19 update: NSW and Tasmania announce new home quarantine trials

New South Wales
NSW has recorded 1,284 new locally acquired cases and 12 further deaths, including two men in their 20s. Three of those who have lost their lives were residents of aged care facilities in Dubbo, and seven were unvaccinated.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced plans to begin a seven-day home-based quarantine trial for travellers who have had both doses of a TGA-accredited COVID-19 vaccine. The initial trial will involve 175 people and it is scheduled to start at the end of the month.

Victoria
Victoria has recorded 510 new locally acquired cases and one death.

From midnight tonight, unvaccinated or partially vaccinated adults will be able to meet up with one other person from a different household for a walk or picnic, while that figure grows to five from two households, plus dependents, for fully vaccinated adults.

The government's full roadmap out of lockdown, outlining restrictions through to November, will be released on Sunday, 19 September.

Australian Capital Territory
The territory has recorded 30 new locally acquired cases with at least 14 in the community while infectious.

From today, as mandatory vaccination has come into effect for the aged care sector, unvaccinated workers will not be able to enter their workplace until they get their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
