  • St Vincent's Hospital in Sydney admitted to two testing blunders in as many days, revealing on Monday almost 1,000 people were told they were COVID-negative when in fact their results had not been returned.
  • Queensland’s travel requirements are causing an overwhelming backlog of queues for PCR testing according to NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard who slammed what he described as "tourism testing".
  • The Health minister Yvette D’Ath announced Queensland will scrap the day five test for people who have travelled from interstate, although border pass applications still required travellers to agree to the test.
  • In Western Australia, The Perth and Peel regions will continue with targeted public health and social measures until 6:00am, Tuesday 4 January, 2022.
  • Yesterday, Australia surpassed the 10,000 new COVID-19 infections in one day milestone, spurred by high case numbers in NSW, Victoria and South Australia, with NSW registering its first known Omicron fatality.
