COVID-19 update: NSW lifts curfew as Ballarat in Victoria enters lockdown

  • In NSW, 47.5 per cent of the population aged over 16 is fully vaccinated
  • Lockdown ends in Shepparton from midnight
  • ACT to reach 75 per cent first-dose vaccination target
  • No new community cases in Queensland

New South Wales
NSW has recorded 1,259 new locally acquired cases, and 12 deaths. 

Premier Gladys Berejiklian says the state has achieved the 80 per cent first-dose vaccination target urging residents in Sydney's west 'not to let their guard down'. 

From tonight, the current curfew will be lifted in the . Under the state government's roadmap, vaccinated people will be released from lockdown when the state reaches 70 per cent double-dose coverage.

Victoria
Victoria has recorded 423 new locally acquired cases and two further deaths. 

The city of greater Ballarat will enter lockdown from midnight and residents will have to follow the same rules as Melbourne for seven days — except there will be no curfew. The lockdown in Shepparton will be lifted from tonight after three days of no new cases.

Most of Victoria's regional trains remain offline after another case was detected among rail staff. Coaches will continue to replace most V/Line services today.

Australian Capital Territory
The territory has recorded 13 new locally acquired cases with at least eight in the community while infectious. 

Chief Minister Andrew Barr says 75 per cent of the population aged over 12 will have received one dose of a COVID vaccine today.
