COVID-19 update: NSW opens up priority vaccinations and eases wedding restrictions

NSW expands eligibility for priority COVID-19 vaccinations
Melbourne's west records 60 per cent of the state's new cases
ACT records 26 new locally acquired cases

New South Wales

NSW has recorded 1,035 new locally acquired cases, with 714 coming from western and south-western Sydney. Two people, aged in their 70s and 80s, died.

In the

local government areas of concern

, the age range for the priority group has been extended, enabling 40-49-years-old to get the vaccination. Grocery and meat workers who don't live in the local government areas of concern but work in them are also now being prioritised.

NSW Health will ease restrictions on weddings, allowing five guests in attendance from 3 September.

Victoria

Victoria has recorded 64 new locally acquired cases, with 49 linked to known outbreaks and 15 mystery cases.

Health Minister Martin Foley says Melbourne's western suburbs are areas of great concern, including Wyndham, Newport, Altona North and Hume.

SA Health listed two petrol stations in Port Augusta and two in Ceduna as
exposure venues
after two truck drivers from NSW tested positive for the coronavirus.

From 24 September, anyone over 18 arriving from the ACT, NSW or Victoria will need to provide evidence they've had at least one dose of the vaccine before entering SA.
