Victoria

Victoria has recorded 1,749 new locally acquired COVID-19 infections and 11 deaths.

89.4 per cent of the over-16 population in the state has received their first dose of vaccination, and 67.2 per cent both.

Premier Daniel Andrews announced a package of $21 million to boost vaccination, including more pop up vaccination clinics, booking appointments, transportation and alternatives wherever needed in the community.

The Victorian government confirmed it would add shorter isolation to its list of rule amendments when the state reaches 70 per cent double-dose vaccination target.

New South Wales

New South Wales recorded 273 new locally acquired cases and four deaths.

Just under 75 per cent of children between 12-15 years of age have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccination, while 35.5 per cent have been completely vaccinated.

The state has also surpassed its 80 per cent full vaccination target of the over-16 population.

Chief Medical Officer Dr Kerry Chant said that the rising number of cases in regional areas remains a concern and urged the community to get vaccinated.

ACT

ACT recorded 24 new cases, 21 of which are linked to the current outbreak.

The territory has announced relaxations in COVID-19 restrictions as a response to 80 per cent full vaccination of the population aged 12 and over.

All retail, both essential and non-essential, will be permitted to open from 11:59pm on Thursday 21 October.
