New South Wales
NSW has recorded 1,599 new locally acquired cases, and eight deaths. There have been 170 COVID-19 related deaths since the start of this current outbreak.
Fragments of COVID-19 have been detected in sewage treatment plants in Byron Bay, Bangalow. Jindabyne, Harden, Moruya, Yass, Port Macquarie, Trangie and Young. This is of concern as no recent cases have been identified in these locations. Authorities are urging everyone to monitor for the onset of symptoms and get tested.
The state passed the eight million mark for vaccinations, with 44.5 per cent fully vaccinated residents.
Victoria
Victoria has recorded 450 new locally acquired cases, with more than 70 per cent cases in northern suburbs.
From Sunday 12 September, pregnant women, 24 weeks and onwards, will be eligible for priority vaccine bookings through state-run clinics.
