COVID-19 update: NSW sets sights on international travel, restrictions in Victoria set to ease

New South Wales

NSW has recorded 1,116 new locally acquired cases and four deaths.

Fragments of COVID-19 were detected in wastewater in Thredbo, Merimbula, Port Macquarie, Dunbogan, Bonnie Hills, Warren, Molong, Tamworth and Gunnedah.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian flagged that international travel could resume in November.

Victoria

Victoria has recorded 120 new locally acquired cases and two deaths.

Premier Daniel Andrews announced an

easing of restrictions

- including the radius for travel of 5km limit doubled to 10km - once 70 per cent of population receives their first dose, which is expected to happen by 23 September.

Construction will be allowed to operate at 50 per cent capacity once 90 per cent of workers have had the first dose.

From 7 September, year 12 students will be prioritised for vaccination. The General Achievement Test will be held on 5 October, while face-to-face learning for Term 3 will not be possible.

From midnight tomorrow, playgrounds will reopen.

Australian Capital Territory

The ACT has recorded 23 new locally acquired cases, with at least 12 in the community while infectious.

Canberrans between the ages of 16 and 29 can now book the Pfizer vaccine at an ACT Government mass vaccination clinic or at a participating GP. The next booking at ACT Government clinics is currently not available until late October.
