COVID-19 Update: NSW urges vaccination, as TGA approves home testing

  • TGA has recommended that home testing will be available from 1 November 
  • Victoria records its highest daily figure since the start of the pandemic
  • Two new Queensland clusters detected days out from the NRL grand final 

Victoria

Victoria has recorded 867 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 and four more deaths, bringing the number of active cases to 9,261. 

The state is launching a new trial of an app that could be used to check on Victorians returning from interstate and overseas.

Queensland

Two new clusters of COVID-19 have been detected in Brisbane days out from the NRL grand final, including one centred on a truck driver who was infectious in the community for eight days

The state recorded four new community cases.  Masks have been made mandatory again for residents in the Brisbane and Moreton Bay local government areas, 

New South Wales

NSW has recorded 863 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 and seven deaths, with the majority of cases from the South Western Sydney Local Health District and Western Sydney.

Authorities are considering putting residents in Port Macquarie and Muswellbrook under lockdown, and extending the lockdown in Kempsey, as a result of rising cases in those areas.

Australian Capital Territory

ACT Chief Minister Andrew Barr says the territory's pathway out of lockdown will be gradual, as 13 new cases are recorded. Eight people are in hospital with the virus, with three requiring ventilation in intensive care.
