  • There are now 25 cases of the Omicron COVID-19 variant in NSW. Of those, 14 are local and 11 from overseas. Health authorities say nine new cases connected to a cluster at an indoor climbing gym which has also affected two Western Sydney schools.
  • South Australia now has additional testing and isolation measures in place for travellers from Victoria, NSW and the ACT. SA Police Commissioner and Emergency Coordinator Grant Stevens says they are not ruling out closing the border again.
  • 98 per cent of people over the age of 12 in the ACT are now fully vaccinated.
  • The Australian Medical Association in WA wants 90 per cent of the population aged over five to be fully vaccinated before the state reopens its borders. The government plans to reopen WA once 90 per cent of over 12 are fully vaccinated.
  • Victoria's Tourism Minister Martin Pakula says state borders should be open for Christmas, despite the threat of the new Omicron variant.
  • Health officials in the United States say early data is suggesting that the Omicron variant may be less dangerous than Delta.
