- Prime Minister Scott Morrison has tested positive to COVID-19. He's experiencing flu-like symptoms but he will continue to discharge his responsibilities while isolating at Kirribilli House in Sydney.
- The Prime Minister is due to end his isolation 7 days after his positive test result, which will be on Tuesday 8 March in the late evening.
- His wife Jenny and their two daughters will isolate too, being close contacts, but have so far tested negative.
- Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam invited residents "not to fall prey to rumours" after panic buying has left grocery shops in short supply. 32,597 new cases have been reported yesterday.
- Queen Elizabeth II has resumed her duties, holding two virtual audiences yesterday from Windsor Castle. The Queen had tested positive to COVID-19 on 20 February.
COVID-19 Australian Stats
New South Wales reported 1,072 patients hospitalised with 45 in intensive care. There were 5 deaths, and 10,650 new cases of COVID-19.
In Victoria, 264 people are in hospital with 37 in ICU and 5 on ventilators. There were 28 deaths and 7,126 new infections.
Tasmania has recorded no deaths with 868 new COVID-19 cases. 12 people are in hospital with COVID-19, two of them requiring intensive care.
In the ACT 40 people are now in hospital with COVID-19, none of them requiring intensive care, with 1,053 new infections reported.
In Queensland, there were 5,011 new COVID-19 cases and 24 deaths. 312 people are hospitalised with COVID-19, with 26 patients in ICU.
In South Australia 112 people are currently in hospital with COVID-19 and 9 of them are in ICU, one is ventilated. There were 2 deaths and 2,075 new cases.
In Western Australia there were 1,770 cases of COVID-19 with 16 people currently in hospital, none of them requiring intensive care.
In the Northern Territory there were 624 new cases of COVID-19 and 2 deaths. 76 people are now in hospital with 2 patients in ICU.
