COVID-19 Update: Victoria records highest daily cases, federal pandemic payments to be reduced

Victoria

Victoria has recorded 950 new locally acquired COVID-19 cases and seven deaths. 

Some restrictions have been eased in some lockdown restrictions, but the Latrobe Valley region has been plunged into a seven-day lockdown to curb a growing COVID-19 outbreak believed to be linked to a household gathering. 

Some rules have been eased from today including extending metropolitan Melbourne's travel limit to 15km and resumption of contactless sports such as tennis and golf.

New South Wales

The state has recorded 863 cases and 15 deaths.  NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said overall hospitalisation figures remain below projected modelling.

From October 11th, aged care residents are able to welcome two fully vaccinated visitors per day.

New South Wales has reached the 86.2% first dose vaccine mark and 61.7% second dose, with 44.5% children aged between 12-15 receiving their first dose. 

Queensland

Queensland has one new locally acquired case, another case won't be counted because it was detected in NSW.

Mask restrictions now extended to the Gold Coast City Council area.

Chief Health Officer Jeannette Young says there's still no need for a lockdown but that could change if there's any sign of significant community spread
