COVID-19 update: Victoria to lift lockdown earlier, Travel bubble between Australia and NZ to resume

Victoria

Victoria recorded 1,838 local COVID-19 cases and another seven deaths.

There are 777 people currently in hospital, 151 are in intensive care and 94 are on ventilators.

Premier Daniel Andrews announced earlier than expected. Restrictions will ease from midnight Thursday 21 October. “The lockdown lifts, there will be no restrictions on leaving your home, there will be no curfew," The Premier said.

89 per cent of Victorians aged 16 and over have had one dose of a COVID vaccine and 65.5 per cent are fully vaccinated.

New South Wales
NSW has recorded 301 locally acquired cases, and 10 deaths.

Premier Dominic Perrottet said yesterday NSW hit the 80 per cent double-dose vaccination target, which means will be lifted.

The Premier announced a $130 million investment into mental health.

"We are the first state in Australia to embark on training 275,000 people in suicide prevention and mental health first aid," Mental Health Minister Bronnie Taylor said
