The Australian Capital Territory (ACT) has closed its migration program for overseas applicants effective August 23rd 2017.
However, if you have family or genuine job offer in Canberra and are living overseas, you may still be eligible to apply to migrate.
Those who have completed a Ph.D. at an ACT university can also still apply for ACT nomination if they meet the criteria.
For those who have applied for ACT state nomination and paid their fees before 23rd August 2017, their applications will be processed.
Canberra residents wishing for ACT nomination can apply for ACT 190 nomination, the official state website said.
Migration consultant, Bina Shah says, “Every state and territory regularly review their skill shortages and from time to time, stop their migration program. ACT too has done so and will eventually reopen their intake after reviewing their skill shortage. There’s no fixed date to when this may reopen. However, those residing in Canberra can apply for state nomination.”
