Officers of the Attica Security Police Drug Prosecution Subdirectorate assisted by the Mykonos police department, proceeded with the arrest on Wednesday 28 July at the island’s airport.

The man is facing charges in the US as a “member of an international drug ring, involved in the importation and trafficking of cocaine as well as money laundering”.

Miami authorities had been tracking his moves, reportedly giving the tip-off to the anti-narcotics police in Greece.

The 39-year-old appears on Interpol’s “red notice”, which is issued for fugitives wanted either for prosecution or to serve a sentence as a request to law enforcement worldwide.

According to information leaked to Greek media, the Australian man had flown to Mykonos with his family from Dubai.
