Sydney-based National Maritime Museum is calling for those interested to proudly add their name or their family’s name to the Welcome Wall in time for an upcoming unveiling ceremony in early 2021.
Celebrating Australia’s diverse migrant heritage, the monument bears the inscription of over 30,000 names appearing on 82 bronze panels, running down the northern promenade of the museum facing Pyrmont Bay.
The first names were listed in January 1999, with many representing Greek migrants descendants who ventured Down Under and their descendants.
In 2016 only, there were about 400 names of Greek Australians added to the Welcome Wall.
The new name inscriptions will be unveiled at a dedicated ceremony scheduled for 10 January 2021.
Registrations for the newest panel inscriptions are accepted until 11 November.
