‘Man of God’ wins audience award at world premiere

The film depicting the life of St Nektarios made a stellar start at Moscow’s International Film Festival.

‘Man of God’ had its world premiere at the Russian capital with two screenings on 25 and 27 April as part of the competition.

The movie won the Audience Award at the Festival. It is expected to participate next at the Los Angeles Greek Films Festivals and the Phoenix Film Festival in August.

The script, written by Yelena Popovic, who is also the director, is centered around the life of St Nektarios.
Exiled unjustly, convicted without trial, slandered without cause. Man of God depicts the trials and tribulations of Saint Nektarios of Aegina, as he bears the unjust hatred of his enemies while preaching the Word of God.

Its cast includes Oscar-nominated actor Mickey Rourke, Russian superstar Alexander Petrov, and highly acclaimed Greek actor Aris Servetalis in the lead role.

The film is set to be theatrically released this year in a number of countries, including Greece and Cyprus.

But no announcements specific to Australia have been made so far about expected dates.
