On 25th of April 1941, ANZAC Day, Frank Cox was captured by the Germans in Greece. Many decades later, he spoke to SBS Greek about his time in Greece with the 1 Aus Corps at the unveiling of a commemorative plaque at Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital.

Frank Cox survived the battle at Pineios Gorge on 17 -18 April 1941. On the way to the evacuation point of Molos, Frank was captured by the Germans on 25th of April, ANZAC Day.

The Greek campaign of 1941 saw the formation, for the second and last time, of the ANZAC Corp. This little known fact of ANZAC history, the politics behind it and the lack of recognition for the Greek campaign veterans are amply explained by historian Peter Ewer in his book Forgotten ANZACS: the campaign in Greece 1941.

Frank Cox and Don Stephenson spent most of the war years as P.O.Ws in German stalags. They both passed away peacefully a few years ago surrendered by their families.
