The chairman and founder of the International Organising Committee for the Restitution of the Parthenon Marbles in Australia Emanuel Comino AM, gave a passionate speech about the importance of returning the sculptures to the Acropolis Museum in Athens.
Mr Comino has spent the last 42 years travelling in Australia and the world, presenting lectures and arguing the case for the return of the marbles.
He was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in the Australia Day 1985 Honours List for his service to the Greek community
Jim Mellas was the second keynote speaker of the night. Mr Mellas is a barrister, commentator, activist and free speech campaigner dedicated to raising awareness and recognition for the Marbles return. He is notably recognized for his silent protest in June, where the sculptures are on display in the British Museum, and his photo looking at the Caryatid.
