An Indian couple escaped injury when a car crashed into their wall. A 24-year-old L-plate-driver was allegedly driving the car and had a blood-alcohol level more than three times the legal limit, ABC reported.

The incident occurred at about 2.20 am at Truganina in Melbourne's west.

Amit Saraf and his wife were about to go to bed. "We were about to go to bed and we suddenly hear a sound, a scorching sound of wheels, and by the time we could just get up from the bed and go towards the door of the bedroom, the car was already in our bedroom," .

"It was my wife and myself in the room and she was on the side where the car actually hit the wall, so we are fortunate that she's fine and I'm fine. I think there was a fraction of a second when we [had time to] get up, and then the car was already in. Couldn't even understand what happened."

The smash sent the bricks flying across the room as Amit and his wife ran for their lives.

A Victoria Police statement said the driver was expected to be charged with careless driving, drink-driving and driving unaccompanied while on a learner permit.

"A learner driver allegedly blew .16 percent after crashing through the bedroom of a home in Truganina," the police statement said.
