Desi #kikichallenge of two Indian farmers grabs headlines world over

The two Indian farmers, Anil Geeta and Pilli Tirupati from Lambadipalli village in Telagana, India shot into the limelight after their video of the #kikichallenge gained over 4.9 million views and over 65,000 shares.

Two Indian farmers and their #kikichallenge have won the hearts on the internet and the duo’s act has made headlines the world over.

The  wrote, “Muddy Indian Farmers Show World How to Groove”, while the host of US Comedy Central, Trevor Noah, on social media, saying, “I think they just won the Keke challenge.”

The video also made it onto BBC News.
The two Indian farmers, Anil Geeta and Pilli Tirupati from Lambadipalli village in Telangana, India shot into the limelight after their video of #Kikichallenge garnered over 4.9 million views and over 65,000 shares.

The pair is seen dancing next to a pair of bullocks in a muddy field, while the bullocks drag the plough.
The #kikichallenge with a twist wasn’t easy to execute.

Anil told local Indian media , “We could have easily slipped and fallen. So we planned it and attempted it a few times, before shooting that video in one take.”

The duo runs their own channel and account 'My Village Show' and says the idea of doing it in the field came after police issued warnings against the dangerous trend of jumping out of a slow moving car to dance to the song.

“We wanted to show people that it was something fun at the end of the day and need not be done in a dangerous way. So we considered two or three ways in which we could shoot it,” Anil said.

Inspired by singer Drake's latest hit "In My Feeling", some videos of the dances uploaded on social media show participants crashing, tripping or falling out of the cars.

Police in India issued a warning against the so-called #kikichallenge after cases emerged of people risking their lives to film it.

The newest trend on social media involves a person jumping out of a slow moving car and dancing alongside it.
