Indian filmmaker Karan Johar to hoist the Indian flag at Federation Square

On the occasion of India’s 73th Independence Day, a traditional flag hoisting ceremony will be held at Federation Square on 10th August.

One of India’s biggest and famous film producer, director and talk show host Karan Johar will be hoisting the Indian flag in Melbourne next week.

On the occasion of India’s 73th Independence Day, a traditional flag hoisting ceremony will be held at Federation Square in Melbourne on August 10, Saturday at 11 am.

The event has been organised by the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) which is scheduled from August 8 to 17.
Honoured to hoist the Indian flag in Melbourne, Karan said: "I'm looking forward to celebrating Indian Independence Day in one of the world's most vibrant multicultural cities, Melbourne.

"The sense of community and unity centres around the pride of our flag and the celebration of India's independence is something I'm looking forward to. It's truly an honour for me to be the one this year to hoist our tricolour at the landmark in Melbourne."

Karan Johar will also attend the IFFM Awards Night on August 8 with other big Bollywood stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Zoya Akhtar, Arjun Kapoor, Malaika Arora, Simi Garewal among others.

Johar's first directorial film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai will also be screened at IFFM.
