A-Kellyville-resident, Shankarlal Trivedi has renewed his passport about 15 days ago as he has to travel to India for the wedding of his daughter’s grandson.

The Hills Mayor Michelle Byrne handed over the passport to Mr. Trivedi. Councilors Elizabeth Russo and Frank De Masi joined Clare De Masi and Christina Celestin, of Kellyville Post Office along with Australia Post state manager Christine Walker on this occasion. Clare De Masi believes he is the oldest resident in The Hills Shire.

Trivedi’s son Jagdish told SBS Hindi, “We are flying on Monday. He is very happy and excited to be the part of the celebrations.”

Though, Jagdish is apprehensive that this trip to India might be his father’s last trip, he says that the family is going to have a good time with him being around.

“We aren’t sure whether he will fly again after this, even this trip itself is risky,” he said. “He looks OK and is as healthy as the next person but we need to make sure he is safe.”

Shankarlal Trivedi has two children, six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. He moved to Australia 16 years ago form Gujarat after traveling to US, East Africa and New Zealand.

His last trip to India was five years back after his 100th birthday.

The oldest passport holder in Australia is 106.
