Nearly 1500 languages at risk of disappearing by the end of century: study

The Australian National University (ANU) research has found that of the world's 7,000 recognised languages, around half are already endangered. It also found that 1500 languages could disappear completely within the next 80 years. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander languages are at a high risk of being lost unless action is taken to preserve their use.
