Preserving birds in Indonesia is not an easy matter.
One of them is because the culture of keeping birds in cages at home has become a hobby that is now increasingly popular. Even the rarer the birds are kept, the greater the prestige.
Not surprisingly, then the hunting of birds is getting bigger, even to the forests.
Birds in Sulawesi are also the targets of this bird trade. Many were then brought to Java, as a large market for domesticated birds.
The Yayasan Kompas Peduli Hutan (KOMIU) (Kompas Peduli Hutan Foundation) in Central Sulawesi, has created a large program to document wild birds in the area.
