Challenges Indonesian online radio faced during coronavirus crisis

Coronavirus crisis has made most of the things done online. But does this mean that all online businesses - including online radio - benefit more from the situation?


The online world, especially online sources of information and communication, is increasingly needed and widely used by people around the world at the time of the coronavirus outbreak which requires social distancing.

But are all online businesses more profitable when this outbreak occurs?

Ulin Rostithi is the founder of a Surabaya-based online radio, 'UR the Radio'.

The Radio Production lecturer at Ciputra University founded the business back in 2017, and acknowledges the struggle in the early days of her business was very challenging where she had to compete with YouTuber and influencers to appeal advertisers.

Now, during the COVID-19 outbreak, Ulin told SBS Indonesian that the challenges faced by the online radio business are not over just yet.
