An idea born out of two best friends in Sydney's eastern suburbs has now been turned into a national event in support of the environment.
The Garage Sale Trail will be held over the next two weeks, with the support of more than 80 local councils, which gives people the chance to sell unwanted items.
More than half a million people are expected to be involved, with at least 15,000 garage sales expected to be held across the country.
