P-H-D students say they are in uncertainty because changes to the popular temporary graduate visa [the Class 485 Temporary Postgraduate Visa] will soon be enforced in Australia.
Many international PhD students say they will be forced to leave the country because they do not meet the new requirements.
Starting July 1, the age eligible to apply for the 4-8-5 Temporary Graduate Visa will drop from 50 to 35.
The maximum period of stay for doctoral graduates -- after their degree -- will also be reduced by half from six to three years.
The change does not apply to students with Hong Kong or UK passports.
