After performing at the National Portrait Gallery in Canberra during the re-installation of a photo of artist Dadang Christanto, dancer, writer and academic who now resides in America, Rachmi Diyah Larasati, stop by Sydney and has a chat with SBS Radio.


Rachmi Diyah Larasati is Associate Professor of cultural theory and historiography in the Department of Theatre Arts & Dance at the University of Minnesota. In her conversation with SBS Radio, she shares her views among others on the relevance of traditional Indonesian dance movements with the shift of the political situation, the importance of understanding the historicity of dances, to the current situation of Indonesia in connection with the 20 years of the Reformation and a year before the Presidential Election.
