The Indonesian government also still has to resolve two cases of gross human rights violations, one each that occurred in the Wasior and Wamena areas, which are also in Papua. Both are cases of violence that occurred more than twenty years ago, and resulted in a number of victims. The Indonesian military is suspected to be behind it.
The Director of the Democratic Alliance for Papua, Latifah Anum Siregar, discussed the situation in the handling of cases of gross human rights violations, especially the cases of Wasior and Wamena, which have not yet been resolved.
