Indonesian people have a long history of living and working in Broome. They have played a significant role in the town’s development, especially in the pearling industry. Indonesian influences are also evident in the unique cuisine of Broome in which flavours from different countries fuse.

Chef Dewa Dinata head the team at the DMK restaurant.  He describes to Sri Dean how DMK developed from a food van, into a warung and then into a restaurant that serves what he calls Balinese Fusion cuisine.
