Hurstville is located about 16 km south of Sydney CBD. Nearly half of the residents have links to China. At one of the Lunar New Year events there, Chinese, Hong Kong, Korean, Vietnamese, Indian, Mongolian and Japanese culture and performing arts were showcased.

The Year of Snake Variety Show was held on 8 February at the Marana Auditorium in Hurstville, NSW. The audience enjoyed not only the various cultures and performing arts from Asia but also their spectacular cultural costumes.

There were three stages performed by Japanese participants, performances by the group Tsukine (Japanese drum, Japanese flute, singing bowl and dance), a dance performance by the Twisting Tornadoes, featuring children of Japanese descent, and a Japanese kimono fashion show by the International Kimono Club Sydney.

In the audio, three Japanese performers share their thoughts and experiences with us.
