"Studying Godzilla equals studying Japan," Australia celebrates 70 years of the king of monsters

The Japan Foundation Sydney holds a two-day free talk event this week to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the iconic Japanese monster. Dr Jason Jones will speak at the first day of the event, titled 'Godzilla Retrospective: A Look Back at the World’s Favourite Monster.'

Dr Jones is Lecturer and Coordinator of Japanese Studies at Monash University.

In the audio, Dr Jones talks about the uniqueness of Godzilla and why the king of monsters could gain global and timeless popularity.

The interview was conducted in Japanese, but the commemorative talk events at the Japan Foundation Sydney will be conducted in English.
