As a contributor for SBS Japanese radio, Yukiko Burns had been reporting from Hobart, Tasmania to the Japanese community since 1996.

Yukiko came to Australia after getting married to a man who she met on a ship bound for Japan from Australia. In the 1970s, international marriages were not as common as now. She started working for a Japanese language radio when she was living in Melbourne before coming to Hobart.

Even after retiring as a contributor, she still collects newspaper clippings and other information that she finds interesting.
