  • Cardinal George Pell has been sentenced to six years in prison for sexually assaulting two choir boys in 1996. The judgement comes three months after he was found guilty of orally raping a 13-year-old choirboy and molesting another at St Patrick's Cathedral in Melbourne. Chief Judge Peter Kidd gave the 77-year-old a non-parole period of nearly four years.
  • The federal government has released draft terms of reference for a royal commission into the mistreatment of Australians living with a disability. The draft terms say the commission would examine abuse in institutional settings, workplaces, schools, homes and the community.
  • Unions are calling for Australians earning the minimum wage to get a $43-a-week pay increase.
  • The Australian Council of Trade Unions says it does not want to see any full-time worker live in poverty.
  • While Seungri has officially been booked and questioned by police on charges of violating South Korea's Acts on Pimping and Prostitution singer Jung Joon Young also has been booked by police on the charging of sharing illegal hidden camera footage in celebrity chatroom.
  • British Prime Minister Theresa May's Brexit deal has been rejected by MPs by an overwhelming majority for a second time.
