Mr Kim based in Korea said his design shows the 60-year-old bilateral friendship between the two countries in the Northern and Southern hemisphere through national flags, colours and landmarks on a concentric circle.

Australian Ambassador to South Korea Ms Catherine Raper, and her counterpart in Australia Mr Jeong-sik Kang, pointed to the rich history of collaboration between Australians and Koreans over the past 60 years, spanning trade, education, science and the arts.

They agreed both countries remain committed to an open, inclusive, stable and prosperous Indo-Pacific, and they would continue to prioritise cooperation in coming decades. The 60th anniversary will be celebrated in both Australia and Korea.

Some major events hosted by the Australian Embassy in the ROK include a commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Gapyeong in the Korean War, an Australian Contemporary Art Exhibition at the Seoul Museum of Art, an Australian Wine Pairing Reception, the Café Show with Australia as the feature country, and a hydrogen seminar in cooperation with H2Korea and major Australian businesses.

The Australia-Korea Foundation will publish a book and website ’Australia and Korea - 60 Stories for 60 Years’. The book and website will recognise individuals across many fields including trade, education, science and the arts who have contributed to the development of the bilateral relations for the past 60 years.

The ROK Embassy in Australia and Consulate General of the ROK in Sydney will host the Haenyeo (Women divers) exhibition in Sydney, Perth and Hobart. Hanbok (Korean traditional costume) fashion show, Korean Film Festival, Hansik (Korean food) contest and Korean traditional liquor tasting will also be held across major cities in Australia.
